• Free of any canonical penalty (please ask if you have questions)
• Distinguished in his or her Christian life, faith and morals

• Welcomes parishioners at the beginning of Mass and announces Gathering Song
• Proclaims the Scripture readings of the day (First and Second Readings, Responsorial Psalm if not sung)
• Leads the congregation in the Universal Prayers (when a deacon is not available)
